Right after the prom, Stephanie ran away from the sleepy town of Marley to Montreal, hoping to forget her alcoholic mother Laura, the impoverished life in a shabby little house, her treacherous boyfriend, and the ridiculous tales about the witch that supposedly dwells in the nearby forests. But fifteen years later, having lost her job as a journalist, Stephanie is forced to return to her native wilderness. She hopes to revive her podcast about the nine-year-old Michelle Fortier, who went missing in 1979, as children's remains were discovered in the wall of an abandoned house after a recent flood... But the deeper Stephanie delves into the long-held secrets, the more she becomes mired in a quagmire of lies, superstitions, and unspoken taboos. Could it be that the local legends are not lying and the town is truly cursed?
