Old Man Khottabych

In 1938, Lazar Lagin wrote the children's tale "Old Man Khottabych" about the friendship between a twelve-year-old boy Volka Kostylkov and the thousand-year-old genie Khottabych.

The story was first published as a separate book two years later, and it was released with illustrations by the outstanding artist Konstantin Rotov.

The book has three editions, but the original edition from 1940 is most often republished.
