The free-spirited wanderer and warrior Li Bo (701–762), the wise one shaped by hardships Du Fu (712–770), the refined aristocrat and artist Wang Wei (699–759) – they were contemporaries, friends, and participants in the most extensive civil war that shook China. Their poems resonate remarkably through the ages, because, ultimately, they are all about the main themes: love and separation, the road and war, the beauty of eternal nature and the transience of existence.
