The Boy

The new novel by Fernando Aramburu "The Boy" (2024) is based on real events. A terrible tragedy occurred in a small Basque town: gas exploded in a local school, and children died. Aramburu tells the story of a family that... lost its only child that day. It's not quite an ordinary story and quite unexpected, just like the events that his parents and grandfather later had to endure. Taking on such a painful topic, Aramburu set himself many difficult tasks, for the solution of which he needed once again to dramatically change his writing style. Fernando Aramburu (b. 1959) is one of the most famous contemporary Spanish writers. His novel "Homeland," with total sales exceeding a million, has been translated into 35 languages and has received dozens of national and international awards.
