This book includes two tales by children's writer Anatoly Mityayev.
The tale "Six Ivans – Six Captains" is quite simple in plot but deep in content. It is about people who will always come to help if someone is in trouble....
And the girl Lena has a big problem – she has run out of paints. And six boys in striped shirts – the Ivan captains – got her yellow, black, white, and red paint from the seas of the same name, and blue and orange from the Blue River and the Orange River. Here it is – friendly teamwork!
"The Tale of Three Pirates" is funny and educational. Three clueless pirates named Blue Nose, Red Nose, and Hook Nose broke into an apartment through a faucet that Mom, Dad, and the girl forgot to turn off. These terrible characters ate wafers with pepper and sour cream and began to take the apartment by storm. They rummaged through the things on the hanger, then attacked dolls, threatened them with a meat grinder knife, and took all the clothes from the poor things, and pirate Blue Nose even started shooting ink from a fountain pen.
One of the best illustrators of children's books, Naum Zeitlin, created bright illustrations full of maritime romance for the tales. The theme of the sea was especially dear to the artist: after all, he served in the Northern naval fleet and participated in special missions.
