Bet Rivers is known to the world as Elizabeth Fairchild. She has been writing thrillers for many years, and one day she herself is kidnapped by a crazed fan, as if by the plot of a thriller. Bet manages to escape, but due to the trauma she loses her memory. In search of peace, the writer ends up in the town of Benedict in Alaska, but even there, things do not go without incidents: shortly before her arrival, the population of the already small town has decreased by one person.
