The Hindi language is one of the two official languages of the Republic of India, the fifth most widely spoken in the world, and it is becoming increasingly in demand each year.
The second, revised and expanded edition of the textbook... consists of two parts: an introductory, sufficiently detailed phonetic course that includes 9 lessons, and the main course containing 20 lessons. The authors of the textbook emphasize the development of students' conversational skills in Hindi: a significant volume of modern conversational vocabulary and phraseology is presented. The dialogues reflect typical situations (shopping, visiting a doctor, phone conversations, cooking, etc.) that language learners may find themselves in. Furthermore, having mastered the lexical and grammatical material presented in the book, students will be able to read and translate original journalistic and literary texts in Hindi independently.
The texts included in the book provide Hindi language learners with information of a geographical and cultural nature, familiarizing them with the realities of modern India and its traditional values. A comprehensive Hindi-Russian dictionary covers all the vocabulary presented in the textbook, and the grammatical material is summarized in tables and included in the appendix.
Phonetic examples and exercises included in the introductory phonetic course, as well as the texts and dialogues of the main course lessons, are accompanied by audio recordings made by native speakers.
