Introduction to Chinese Hieroglyphics

The aim of this book is to explain the structure of Chinese hieroglyphs, the technique of their writing, as well as to instill certain calligraphic skills in students. The textbook is designed for students of the Faculty of Oriental Studies... and other specialized educational institutions where Chinese language is taught, as well as for those studying Chinese independently and wishing to improve or organize their knowledge and skills in this field.
Since traditionally Chinese hieroglyphs were written with a brush, and all writing techniques are related to this writing instrument, the basics of hieroglyphic technique in this edition are also given in relation to brush writing. When writing hieroglyphs with a pen (the only possible method for classes in a university classroom), it is recommended to repeat brush techniques with the pen; this method of studying hieroglyphs will allow not only to remember hieroglyphic strokes and their order but also to develop a normative hieroglyphic handwriting, which is extremely important for anyone studying Chinese.
