Reading in Korean

The proposed manual for developing reading skills in the Korean language is a reader of original modern Korean texts of medium complexity. The texts are selected in such a way as to tell the reader about how Koreans view themselves and their culture, touching on areas of life that any person encounters: love, family, studies, contacts with representatives of different cultures, and others. The texts include core vocabulary and grammar at an intermediate level according to the standards adopted in the Republic of Korea.

The manual is equipped with extensive lexical and grammatical commentary on 50 constructions. The cultural commentary promotes the development of intercultural competence. The manual is fundamentally different from similar publications in the way it introduces lexical units: together with the core lexeme, words with similar and opposite meanings, as well as related words and comments that help determine the peculiarities of the usage of each word are provided. 

The manual is aimed at students of Asian studies specialties, as well as anyone studying the Korean language, including independently, who already has a basic level of proficiency.
