Snow on the Cedars

The small island of San Pedro is so isolated that its inhabitants cannot afford to have enemies. They honor traditions, and in their minds, the memories of war are still alive.
In 1954, a tragedy occurs - the body of a... local fisherman, Carl Heine, is found in the waters of Puget Sound. Kabuo Miyamoto, an American of Japanese descent, is accused of the murder. The entire island watches the trial, covered by the editor of the local newspaper and war veteran Ismail Chambers.
Many years ago, Ismail had a romance with a Japanese girl, Hatsue, who grew up and married Kabuo. In search of justice, the journalist begins his own investigation, and he faces a difficult choice between feelings and conscience.
