Don Quixote of La Mancha. Part 1

The novel by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra (1547-1616) is rightfully considered one of the best in world literature. The author initially intended to write a short novella - a parody of the chivalric romance about a wandering half-mad hidalgo, but the hero with his simple-minded squire so captivated Cervantes that it ultimately turned into a large novel. The unique image of the noble and self-sacrificing Don Quixote has inspired poets, artists, composers, and filmmakers for centuries.
