The Heart of the Mermaid

The legend says: those who love a mermaid are doomed to a swift death. Leia is the daughter of a minor baron from provincial nobility. The estate where she lives with her parents and older sister is surrounded by an... impenetrable taiga forest, about which peasants have composed legends for centuries. The forest is both a provider and a dangerous neighbor. The old folks know that in the depths of the thicket, in the murky waters of the lake, there lives evil - treacherous mermaids. What will the meeting with the merfolk bring to Leia and her family? Is it true that they are cruel and unscrupulous beings, or has the sad reputation forced the mermaids to bare their teeth? Monks, peasants, robbers, and aristocrats – all will turn out to be connected with a mysterious ancient cult that praises life where death reigns.
