The Cricket on the Nose

Edward Lear is a wonderful poet and a talented artist, one of the founders of "nonsense poetry." His children's verses, filled with funny absurdities and "smart nonsense," create a marvelous world that is immediately beloved by both children and adults. Indeed, one must possess truly unbridled imagination to concoct a touching story about Mr. Yongy-Bongy-Bo or to bring to life a table and a chair that went out for a stroll like true English gentlemen! The excellent translation by Grigory Krzhizhanovsky and the illustrations full of amazing fantasy by Evgeny Antonenkov make this book truly unique and very, very entertaining.
