Multiplying in columns and dividing at the corner are two types of work in elementary school that are not loved by many schoolchildren. This guide will make working on them more interesting and effective.
It should be used when students are generally familiar with calculation rules but still have a long way to go to achieve automaticity in calculations. The algorithm for these calculations is initially mastered fragmentarily, from the fifth to the tenth, and often leads to mistakes that prevent completing the calculation. Therefore, it is helpful to signal the student about the necessary actions using templates with empty cells in the right places, allowing them to focus on the key stages of the calculations. Template cells at this stage warn against incorrect actions by young mathematicians, signaling most of the mistakes they make. And decoding the key word at the end of the calculations allows for final confirmation of this.
