The Girl from the City

The story of L. Voronkova "The Girl from the City" was first published in 1943, at the height of the Great Patriotic War. It tells the story of how, due to the war, little Valentinka was left an orphan, but by sheer chance found a new mother and a new family in the distant village of Nachaevo, which became very dear to young readers. And not without reason, as the children's writer L. Voronkova carefully reveals in her story the tragic tale of one wartime childhood while also conveying that love, compassion, and kindness are always nearby, even in the most difficult times. In 1984, a film based on the story was made.
