King Louis the Saint

1250 year. The Seventh Crusade, led by the French King Louis IX, had already begun long ago, but the main battles are yet to come. The crusaders are restless. They long for battles and glory. Alas, this thirst robs them of reason, convincing them that one Christian can successfully fight against a dozen or even hundreds of pagans. It also instills the belief that faith in God's help saves from death on the battlefield, from hunger, and from disease. How many bitter lessons are needed to temper the knightly fervor? And how many lessons are required for Louis, who is no less blinded by the thirst for glory and places too much hope in God? In any case, the king, as the leader of the crusaders, is responsible for both his own recklessness and that of others. The novel "King Louis the Saint" is the second part of Sergey Vishnyakov's duology about the Seventh Crusade. The first part, "The Star of the Paladin," was previously published in this series.
