The main character of this story is ambitious 9-year-old Gaspar, who thinks he is old enough to see the world on his own (or at least to leave his home for a while). So, it's decided — tomorrow or the... day after, he will set off on his journey. But first, he needs to make some important preparations — determine the destination of his trip, stock up on all necessary items (from a backpack to socks), think about what he will eat on his adventure, and how he will react in case of a wolf attack...
Should he tell his parents about his plans? The boy is still unsure, especially after mom and dad decided to transfer him to another school next year where he won’t have any friends.
Gaspar records all important details regarding his journey in his diary so he doesn't forget anything. Along the way, the hero decides to share his plans with his friends, and very soon his escape becomes the main topic of discussion at school.
An engaging story filled with sincere humor and funny illustrations about growing up, true friendship, and support from loved ones — themes that are surely relatable to many teenagers. "The Escape Diary" — the first book in the series — was published in France in 2021. It was followed by — Journal du grand amour ("The Diary of First Love") and Journal de ma manif ("The Diary of the Demonstration") in 2022 and 2023 respectively.
