In the 5th century BC, Athens is thriving under the rule of Pericles, who does not allow himself to rest—even during friendly banquets, he does not forget about state affairs. He invites one of his guests, the historian Herodotus, to... embark on a journey to the East to gather important information, in other words, to spy.
Herodotus regularly receives such assignments and is happy to take on the new one, as the trip will provide material for his "History" and allow him to visit the famous cities of Assyria and Babylon. However, risking his life and spending days in chaos, he can hardly work on his composition. How can he combine the duties of a spy with literary pursuits?
This novel is the concluding part of the trilogy about the life of the famous Greek historian. The first two books—"The Choice of Herodotus" and "Ostracon and Papyrus"—were previously published in this series.
