The Enchanted Wanderer

The works of the outstanding Russian writer Nikolai Semenovich Leskov reveal to readers the full depth of the Russian soul. The book includes two gems of domestic prose: the stories "The Enchanted Wanderer" and "Lefty". The story "The Enchanted Wanderer" centers around the journey of Ivan Flyagin, who voluntarily went to the active army in the Caucasus. Ivan Severyanych faces many trials: he has experienced being a serf, a babysitter for a young child, a slave in Tatar camps, a soldier, and even a novice in a monastery. The hero of the story "Lefty" is a gifted craftsman, an ordinary master from Tula, who is left-handed. He skillfully shod a tiny steel flea brought from England so well that he managed to conquer the West with the talent of the Russian people.
The illustrations by Nikolai Kuzmin support the spirit of the Russian national character in these works and help the reader immerse themselves in the images of the main characters.
