The Road to Murder

Alison Jenner, the owner of a large wealthy estate, is being blackmailed. An unknown person is sending her threatening letters, hinting that she is a murderer. Fearing that this will come to light and harm his wife's good name, Jeremy Jenner invites a familiar couple, Meredith Mitchell and Superintendent Alan Markby, for a visit and asks them to unofficially investigate the matter. Markby is not ready to get involved; the case seems to him fabricated. But when the body of Jenner's daughter Fiona is found in the lake, he can no longer remain on the sidelines.
