Modern Hebrew for Beginners

We present to your attention a textbook of modern Hebrew, prepared by the lecturer of the Department of Semitology and Hebraistics at St. Petersburg State University, Maria Evgenievna Alekseeva. The lexical and grammatical material presented in the book is aimed... at an unprepared reader and aims at gradually increasing the level of language proficiency, the material is presented according to the principle "from simple to complex." The combination of two principles of language study - grammatical and communicative - allows one to understand the grammatical norms of Hebrew and to use the studied language for communication from the very first lessons. Classes are expected to be conducted under the guidance of a teacher, but provided that there is a systematic reference to quality reference literature, the textbook can be used for independent work.
The texts and exercises of the textbook are recorded on a compact disc (not included in the set), listening to which students will be able to master correct pronunciation and intonation.
The use of audio recordings in classroom activities will allow the teacher to conduct listening skills control.
