Closeness. Trusting Yourself and Others

"Closeness is a treasure that must be cherished," says Osho. Even in the happiest family, there comes a subliminal feeling that something is missing. And that something is the quality of closeness.
Osho is convinced: it doesn’t matter how long you have lived with a person — one month or twenty years — often the "strangeness" does not disappear. Many are afraid to show themselves to a close person as they are, without embellishments — because it is like taking a step on a tightrope stretched over an abyss. But at the same time, everyone wants closeness because otherwise one has to be alone in the universe — without a friend, without someone to whom they can open up and share all their secrets... How can we overcome this contradiction within ourselves?
In his book, Osho helps to recognize the fears of intimacy. He teaches to look inside and rid oneself of everything that causes shame in front of another person. He shows how to accept oneself as one is: "You have nothing to hide. Cast away everything that makes you think: 'Oh my god, others will find out about this!' Keep silence and a loving heart for yourself".
