Connie and Trouble

Parents often think that children get upset over trivial things. Well, if you didn't press the elevator button first — you'll get to do it another time. A cup with a pony broke — that's not a big deal, we will buy a new one. In our eagerness to cheer up the little one, we often devalue their feelings, yet for them, every incident is important, every disruption of a plan is a disaster of global proportions.

Our parental task is to give the child support and show them how to cope with disappointment, distress, and anger. And at the same time, inspire them to seek solutions in difficult situations.

Connie's day hasn't gone well since morning: dad's cup broke, ice cream fell straight into a puddle, and the cat tore up her favorite teddy bear. Anyone would feel upset in such a situation. But Connie didn't stay down for long because her parents were nearby, ready to listen to her, comfort her, and help solve the problem.
