The Fourth Way to Consciousness

Georgy Ivanovich Gurdjieff — one of the most outstanding and enigmatic personalities of the 20th century. A philosopher-mystic, writer, composer, traveler, and founder of the Institute for the Harmonious Development of Man, he is primarily known as the creator of the esoteric teaching of the Fourth Way, which has had a colossal influence on many spiritual schools around the world.

This collection includes four books from Gurdjieff's programmatic cycle "All and Everything," which outlines the history and foundations of his teachings: "Man is a multipurpose being," "Meetings with Remarkable People," "Life is real only when 'I Am'" and "Views from the Real World." They describe the three traditional paths of man — the "path of the fakir," or the path of the body; the "path of the monk," or the path of faith; the "path of the yogi," or the path of the mind; as well as the universal Fourth Way, which combines the physical, emotional, and intellectual spheres. The essence of the latter is the transformation of human consciousness, which includes the achievement of harmony and the state of enlightenment.
