Aleksey Nikolayevich Tolstoy is a famous Soviet writer who wrote many works for adults and children during his life. The tale-novella "The Golden Key, or The Adventures of Buratino" was first published in 1936 and immediately became beloved by readers.... The idea to write the tale came to Aleksey Tolstoy while he was working on the translation of Carlo Collodi's tale "The Adventures of Pinocchio: The Story of a Wooden Puppet." Based on Tolstoy's tale, classic and puppet performances, operas, ballets, and films have been created, including animated films. The fairy-tale world and characters created by Tolstoy are so vivid and bright that for over half a century, the tale of the wooden boy Buratino has attracted more and more fans every year.
