Mary Pat Fennessy has lived her whole life in the Boston neighborhood known as Southie. This Irish enclave stubbornly clings to old traditions and proudly stands apart. The people raised here fear neither God nor the devil. And they really... don't like it when someone interferes in their lives… One evening, Jules, Mary Pat's daughter, does not return home. That same evening, a guy is found dead at the local subway station, hit by a train under mysterious circumstances. These two events seem unrelated. But in her desperation, Mary Pat begins to poke at people who are best left alone – and to ask questions that seriously disturb Marty Butler, the head of the local Irish mafia.
