Tsukiko leads a secluded life. In her opinion, she is not made for love and is used to spending lonely evenings in a bar, where she once accidentally meets her former school teacher.
He also lives alone in a slightly rundown... apartment, where he collects strange items.
The teacher and Tsukiko make an unspoken agreement to share their loneliness. They choose the same food, seek each other's company, and find it hard to part, although sometimes they try to escape: the teacher to memories of his wife who left him; Tsukiko to a former classmate.
As Tsukiko and the teacher grow closer, the flow of life is marked by gentle hints at the change of seasons: from warming to refreshing drinks, from budding trees to the blooming of cherry blossoms…
