Tsukiko leads a solitary lifestyle. In her opinion, she is not made for love and is used to spending lonely evenings in a bar, where she once accidentally meets her school teacher.
He also lives alone in a slightly dilapidated apartment,... where he collects strange items.
The teacher and Tsukiko enter into an unspoken agreement to share their loneliness. They choose the same food, seek each other's company, and find it hard to part, even though sometimes they try to escape: the teacher - into memories of his wife who left him; Tsukiko - into thoughts of a former classmate.
