Victoria Tokareva is a well-known writer and screenwriter, familiar to Russian viewers from beloved childhood films: «Literature Lesson», «Gentlemen of Fortune», «Mimino», «A Dog Walked on the Piano», «You are...». An important place in Tokareva's work is occupied by stories and novellas, warm and lively, with soft humor, written in an inimitable, light, «Tokarev-style» language. With sympathetic characters that sometimes remind us of ourselves. «Victoria Tokareva looks at the world as if no other eyes have seen it, as if she has been given the opportunity to first discover the nature and essence of things... she rediscoversthe world around us», — wrote Yuri Nagibin. «Pushkin's calmness» — this could be said about the prose of Victoria Tokareva, whose works comfort and help to accept life as it is, in all its fullness, complexity, and fragile beauty. ...If one tries to be oneself — to say what one thinks, to do what one feels is right, to fear nothing and no one — then it turns out that lasting more than one day is very difficult. At first, this may seem like a game, but then one will have to live in truth in everything or admit defeat... This edition includes stories and novellas from the 1960s to 1980s.
