The Rebel. The Myth of Sisyphus

This collection includes two significant works by Camus.
"The Rebel" is an essay written at the intersection of literary studies and philosophy. One of Camus's main ideas, which he laid down as the foundation of his literary and philosophical existentialist concept,... is the idea of rebellion. A rebellion that, though doomed to fail three times, encourages a person who wishes to control their own destiny to fight against the laws of society. According to Camus, a meaningful life is impossible without struggle, just as struggle is impossible without the will to freedom, which repeatedly poses to us the "cursed" questions of existence.
"The Myth of Sisyphus" is a philosophical essay in which the author presents Sisyphus's senseless and endless toil as a metaphor for modern society. Why do we work every day? Who needs it? The daily commute to work is as absurd a task in essence as the constant attempt to push a boulder up a hill, from which it will inevitably roll down again.
