Barrayar

Lois McMaster Bujold is the brightest star of modern American science fiction. The series of novels about Miles Vorkosigan, the son of a high-ranking official from the planet Barrayar, along with his relatives, friends, and enemies, brought her worldwide fame, while the novel "Barrayar" received two prestigious awards -- the "Hugo" and "Locus" -- as the best science fiction novel.

Lord Aeryn Vorkosigan is appointed regent for the four-year-old Emperor Gregor. However, not everyone is pleased with this. Barrayar is engulfed in intrigues and conspiracies.
