The collection of poems "The Flowers of Evil" is a great work by Charles Baudelaire, one of the greatest poets of France in the 19th century. The hero of the cycle is torn between the ideal of spiritual beauty and... the beauty of vice, tormented by a sense of duality and a thirst for death.
Included in the treasury of world literature, "The Flowers of Evil" is published in a translation by Adrian Lamble, a Russian poet-translator of Swiss origin. This is the most complete of all existing translations of the collection, published in Paris in 1929, which gave rise to the myth that its author is Marina Tsvetaeva herself.
