Stamp Album

Andrei Sergeev 1933–1998 — a poet, a recognized master of the poetic translation of English-language poetry of the 20th century. In the mid-50s, he was part of the “Chertkov group”, the first uncensored community of poets in post-Stalin Moscow. A... significant figure of the underground in the 60–70s. “Stamp Album” — a mosaic novel-memoir, awarded the Booker Prize in 1996, autobiographical prose and at the same time a strong and precise depiction of the era of the 30–50s. The memoirs “Portraits” are elegant and precise — whether it is about little-known people or about “personages” — Anna Akhmatova, Nikolai Zabolotsky, Kornei Chukovsky, Joseph Brodsky, who dedicated several poems to Andrei Sergeev.
