Lady's Maid

To say that Cardow Castle has a bad reputation is to say nothing. Neighbors are convinced that malicious ghosts roam at every turn, and the owner's uncle, a retired major, drinks with a truly military flair. The servants flee in panic. It's not a manor, but a veritable hell... until a new housekeeper, the young widow Aubrey Montford, takes charge. With a firm hand, she brings order... and suddenly the major is found murdered, and the considerably irritated owner returns to the castle. Giles, Lord Walraifen, loathes his ancestral home and is somewhat disinclined to believe that the uncle was killed by ghosts. Moreover, he thinks the charming housekeeper is hiding too much. It's time to get to the bottom of what's happening...
