All Adventures and Travels of Two Philomatics

The main characters of the book are philomatics: the connoisseur of fine literature Philaret Philaretovich Philaretov, shortened to Philo, and the one who recognizes only the beauty of mathematics Matvey Matveevich Matveev, Mate. Philo collects autographs of poets and artists,... while Mate collects those of mathematicians and astronomers. Exploring science from two seemingly opposite sides, traveling together through different countries and eras, the friends discover that they often hunt for autographs of the same people and eventually realize that art and science do not argue but rather complement each other well. Readers will get acquainted with great scientists, their works and discoveries, and will receive various information about the history of science and culture alongside these two amusing oddballs.
