Cinderella

«Cinderella» — one of the most famous stories, the plot of which has been realized in fairy tales from different peoples of the world. The fairy tale was first discovered in ancient Egyptian papyrus. But the most popular version turned... out to be that of the French writer and collector of folk tales Charles Perrault. And this is not surprising. After all, it is Perrault's «Cinderella» that is filled with sparkling lightness, irony, and joy. It lacks the cruelty and revengefulness of the German version of the tale by the Brothers Grimm or the emotional extravagance of the «Cat Cinderella» by the Italian Giambattista Basile. For this edition, the first 1675 version of Charles Perrault's fairy tale has been translated anew. And the artist Anton Lomayev accompanied it with illustrations that transport the reader to 17th century France — the century of dazzling kings and court intrigues, magnificent balls, gilded carriages, and musketeers, the century of golden fairy tales.
