Norway, our days. The writer's family gathers at the bronze «stone of stumbling» in front of their ancestor's house — Hirsch Commissioner. During the war, this was the headquarters of the infamous Henry Rinnan — a secret agent of the Gestapo, responsible for many atrocities. But for the descendants of the Commissioner, this house is also not a foreign place. Is it really possible?
«Lexicon of Light and Darkness» — an attempt to reconstruct the family's history during the war based on authentic testimonies and archival documents. The novel has been translated into more than 20 languages and awarded Norway's main national prize.
