The Economy of Light

The whole world plunged into darkness for little Silver when her mother tragically died, falling off a cliff. In response to the city's call to shelter the orphaned girl, only the old lighthouse keeper Pew came forward - blind, like... his namesake pirate from "Treasure Island". And now Silver lives with the blind Pew, in a cramped little house on top of a cliff. With the onset of darkness, the old man lights the lighthouse to keep sailors safe from harm, and tells the little girl stories that are anything but childlike - about passion and betrayal, about pride and death, about lost souls and wayward sailors, and, of course, about love - healing and uplifting, paving a path to light in her soul.
