Maya seems to have it all - a loving father, an excellent job, and a caring boyfriend Ryan, but the longing for her early deceased mother still doesn't allow her to live peacefully.
Maya decides to escape her problems to the... Arctic, but anxiety is a very heavy burden, and the Arctic doesn't meet her expectations: instead of magical northern lights, there is terrifying cold and polar night.
In an attempt to find balance, Maya gets a job as a cook and starts preparing Indian food from her mother's cookbook. Then the Arctic stops being scary - thanks to the warming dishes, Maya makes friends and gains confidence.
But with each new recipe, she remembers what she once tried very hard to forget…
