Gold of the Tigers. The Secret Rose. The Story of the Night. Complete Collection of Poetic Texts
Jorge Luis Borges is one of the most famous writers of the 20th century, largely defining the landscape of modern literature. Worldwide fame came to him after the publication of his artistic prose, amazing stories that blur the line between...
fiction and truth, history and imagination, literary text and the universe surrounding us. However, for Borges, language was "a way to organize the mysterious abundance of the world", and it's not surprising that poetry, in his opinion, was supposed to cope with this task best of all. As the author wrote, "all poetry is a mystery; and nobody knows for sure what they are destined to write." But what did he call poetry, and what did he consider prose? In the case of the great Borges, this line is very blurred. This truly unique edition is the first complete collection of Jorge Luis Borges' "poetic" works in Russia, compiled by the author in his later years. It includes thirteen collections, the first of which was published by Borges at the age of twenty-four at his own expense with a print run of 300 copies ("The Heat of Buenos Aires"), and the last — a year before his death ("The Warranty"). Many texts are published in Russian for the first time.
