Hanna Cho has everything planned for the next year — the perfect summer with her boyfriend Nate, followed by a fun senior year with friends. But then Nate does what everyone else in Hanna's life does — he leaves her,... claiming they have nothing in common. He and all her friends have recently become obsessed with K-pop and dramas, while Hanna has not. After years of trying to embrace her American roots and avoid her Korean ones to fit in, Hanna discovers that this is exactly what is now bothering her. But there is someone who really knows dramas — so well that he stars in one himself — it's Jacob Kim, Hanna's former best friend whom she hasn't seen in many years. He desperately wants to escape from fame, so a family trip back to San Diego might be just what he needs… provided he and Hanna can figure out what went wrong the last time they saw each other and deal with the new feelings emerging between them.
