The Talented Mr. Ripley

Arriving in New York, Tom Ripley was full of ambitious plans: to become a famous actor, to achieve glory, to get rich… But reality turns out to be much more prosaic. Scraping by on odd jobs and suffering from a... sense of his own worthlessness, Mr. Ripley cannot even hold a job as an accountant in a department store. But suddenly he receives an unexpected offer - to travel to Italy and convince his good acquaintance Dickie Greenleaf, the son of a wealthy businessman, to return home to America. Meeting Dickie, the carefree darling of fortune, the chosen one for whom paradise on earth is prepared, is a chance to start fresh. However, very soon Mr. Ripley’s hopes turn to dust. The world again carelessly rejects him. And Ripley realizes: he has only two options left – to die or to become another person – Richard Greenleaf.
