The Talented Mr. Ripley

Arriving in New York, Tom Ripley was full of ambitious plans: to become a famous actor, to achieve glory, to get rich… But reality turns out to be much more prosaic. Scraping by on odd jobs and suffering from a sense of his own worthlessness, Mr. Ripley cannot even hold a job as an accountant in a department store. But suddenly he receives an unexpected offer - to travel to Italy and convince his good acquaintance Dickie Greenleaf, the son of a wealthy businessman, to return home to America. Meeting Dickie, the carefree darling of fortune, the chosen one for whom paradise on earth is prepared, is a chance to start fresh. However, very soon Mr. Ripley’s hopes turn to dust. The world again carelessly rejects him. And Ripley realizes: he has only two options left – to die or to become another person – Richard Greenleaf.
