Berlin 1923. The Berlin midwife Hulda Gold is called to assist in a birth, unaware that her investigative skills will soon be in demand again. When the newborn goes missing a few days later, Hulda becomes involved in the search... for him. The more determined Hulda is in following the clues, the more resistance she encounters, for the family has its own secrets that they guard carefully from outsiders. The commissioner of the criminal investigation department, Karl North, joins Hulda again in the investigation, but their relationship faces serious difficulties.
