Daniel Berger, born in 1983, lives in Kyrgyzstan, a director of documentary and feature films, producer. The book On the Unclean and More is a debut in prose. What if the history of the last hundred years was written not by people, but by semi-mythical, mythical, and downright fairy-tale creatures living side by side with humans? A shy, in-love demon Ztrekopitov and an evil spirit Albarsty working in a local history museum, a quiet house elf and an aging siren, red army cheaters and ghouls imbued with Marx's ideas... Neither Gogol nor Gaiman characters wonderfully fit into everyday life and become the heroes of bright, touching, sad, and funny stories. A series is being filmed based on the book. In Gaiman's famous "American Gods," supernatural beings are equally petty, weak, cruel, and imperfect—in short, they are no different from us. However, Daniel Berger is much more optimistic or conversely, it depends on how you look at it. The unclean in his work is incredibly likable and perhaps even more human.
