My Life.

A. P. Chekhov's story "My Life" was published in 1896. Anton Pavlovich tells about a nobleman who became fascinated by the philosophy of L. N. Tolstoy - Tolstoyism. Because of this, the hero Mikhail Poloznev leaves his home and becomes a painter, lives a simple life, and works a lot. The artist Ilya Repin highly appreciated this work: "What simplicity, strength, unexpectedness; this gray everyday tone, this prosaic worldview is presented in such a new captivating light. And what a language! - The Bible". Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy himself received the story with restraint, although he highly appreciated the development of some characters. The collection also includes other iconic stories and tales: "The Man in a Case", "Ionich", "The Tale of an Unknown Man", and others.
