From Death to Life.

The novel logically concludes the "story of the future" by Olaf Stapledon, initiated by the epic "Last and First Men" and continued in "Star Maker". The novel is the quintessence of the cosmogony and eschatology of the great fantasist and futurist.

Every thinking race inhabiting the infinite cosmos has its guardian spirit, which undergoes the same life cycles as the "subject" people. Before us is a grand picture of the wandering cosmic patron of humanity across Earth and the Solar System mastered by humans, a history of observations on the rise and fall of empires, a diary of fears and hopes associated with our intelligent species... Will the masters of the third planet manifest themselves worthy within their galaxy or disappoint the Star Makers? Who will guide the descendants of Adam on the path of true immortality?
