The novel "Multiplying Sorrow" by Georgy Vainer is dedicated to the theme of big, very big money.... Money - dollars, rubles, marks, francs - is a magical living force that comes and melts according to its own laws. In the 1990s, it arrived in post-Soviet Russia. Smart, strong, and gambling players jumped into the fight for it. But does anything else remain important in their lives? Long-standing friendship, for example? The stakes keep rising, and in the crisis year of 1998, Interpol officer Sergey Ordintsev tries to prevent one of his school friends from killing another, and it's almost impossible to figure out whose side the truth is on and who is truly dangerous. Based on the novel, a TV series of the same name was filmed in 2005.
