In 1918, the river flotillas were acquired by the «founders» in Samara, and Trotsky in Nizhny Novgorod, and the insurgents of Izhevsk, and the Chekists in Perm. And in the world, an engineering revolution was raging, when steam engines competed with diesel engines, and the struggle between the leaders of oil production — the British company «Shell» and the Russian company of the Nobel brothers — intrusively entered the Russian confrontation of the reds and whites.
The war was fought by people, technologies, and capitals. In the bloody and fiery turmoil, the riverboat men found themselves either red or white. They were compelled to shoot at their comrades in the main business of life, compelled to sink the steamers — the glory and pride of the river fleet. How to maintain one’s conscience in the midst of catastrophe? How to protect those you love, who have trusted you? How to defend progress, which is indifferent to social battles? There, on the decks of the river tugs, the captains sought an honest path to the future, and the little man became stronger than the huge and mighty steamboat.
