King of the Mountains

The next volume of "Masters of Adventure" introduces modern readers to the amazing French writer Edmond Abou. This master of words and grotesque artfully fencing with Voltaire's sharp pen and Molière's jester's hat made quite a noise in the restless... 19th century and managed to become an academic by the end of his rather short life. Finally, for the first time in Russian, two of his most famous novels are being published, two masterpieces:
"King of the Mountains" - a tragicomic story of a two-legged wolf with wet eyes, playing a gruesome game of cat and mouse with its victims;
"The Man with the Broken Ear" - the fantastic adventures of the mummy of a Napoleonic spy wandering in the twilight of the Second Empire.
The book is adorned with more than two hundred illustrations by Gustave Doré and Eugène Courbet.
