We'll Live Until Monday

Georgy Polonsky (1939–2001) is known to the public primarily as a screenwriter, who created the literary basis for the famous films "We'll Live Until Monday" (1968), "Key Without the Right of Transfer" (1972), and "Translation from English" (1972, in co-authorship with N. G. Dolinina).
The character of Ilya Semyonovich Melnikov (played by Vyacheslav Tikhonov in the film "We'll Live Until Monday") became iconic for many generations of teachers and students. Melnikov is not a template "model" educator, but a living person who holds high standards primarily for himself. Yes, he sometimes finds it difficult, at times he feels ridiculous and vulnerable, he loses control... But he acknowledges both himself and the students the right to feelings, doubts, and crises; he is honest and possesses impeccable moral intuition, he understands where the light is and where the darkness lies.
