Friend April

The teenager Ivan Akzentyev lives in the railway backwoods of Kostroma, near the Lomysky railway junction. Aksyon knows by heart all the passing trains and the surrounding forests, feeds on caught fish and stolen canned meat, reads old magazines discarded by mute vendors at the small railway stations, often gets into fights, drops out of school because he has no shoes, and desperately wants to escape from here... But one must take care and wait. Take care of his eternally hungry younger brother and wait for Ulyana to return. Not that it's first love, but rather more or less all of Aksyon's life that was, and then suddenly ended.
The novel "Friend April," first published in 2010 and bringing its author recognition as one of the strongest domestic writers, opens the series "Selected Works of Eduard Verkin."
